Pulbished on:Tripoli, 27 July, 2022 (Lana) - Libyan women representing the emerging Noon Initiative emphasized the need to hold elections, stressing the need to improve the security situation.
In a series of tweets, the UN mission stated that it hosted a group of Libyan women technocrats on July 24, representing the emerging “Noon” initiative, which aims to work through a multidisciplinary approach to advance the direct involvement of Libyan women in the political process, peace building and the development of the country.
The mission added that the participants in the meeting expressed their concerns about the current situation, and indicated the need to hold elections, stressing the need to improve the security situation, as it is still the main obstacle that prevents women from fully participating in Libya and enjoying civil and political rights.
The mission reiterated that the full and effective participation of women in all political initiatives and peace-building tracks remains one of the mission's main priorities, noting that it will continue to build on the experiences available among Libyan women to implement these initiatives and tracks.
