Tripoli, 19 July 2022 (Lana) The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dabaiba, revealed that about a year ago the Ministry of Oil had addressed the Cabinet to correct the legal status of the board of directors of the National oil Corporation, because the decision to commission the previous board was illegal, explaining that the Government repeatedly postponed the issue Because they don't have the right information and a lot of other media because of the sensitivity of the decision.

In a televised speech this afternoon, Al Dabaiba said he didn’t expect the change of board of directors affiliated with the government, referring to the National Oil Corporation, to cause the collapse of other projects of who he termed aspirants to executive office, or those who continue to control of the legislature for 10 years, nor did he expect this to effect a change of international parties that have bet on a project, describing this project as an illusion from the beginning, and that the bullet of mercy was tied to the opening of oil terminals.

He added that he offered an excuse to some well-known national figures from the consistent positions that had been affected and interacted with this campaign and took a negative attitude from the step we have taken, because of the lack of correct information for them and the fraud promoted by other media organs.

He denied that he had backed down and done what others did, and that he entered into power-sharing, considering that they are illusions that those who lost and were defeated try to push their luck that it may find another opportunity to stir up chaos or save face after they gave up everything, and did not even get anything.

He explained that what happened was a solution to a specific problem, the halt of oil export, by reshaping the board of directors of the new National Oil Corporation with personalities agreed upon by all, representing all Libyan cities and areas of oil production and export, all of them professional competencies,. He pointed out that this step was necessary to seize the appropriate international circumstance to correct the situation. He pointed out that the suspension of oil exports caused the loss of nearly 1,000 megawatts of electricity, and a fuel crisis in some cities and did not take into account the loss by Libya of nearly sixteen billion dinars, in order to seek control of the government.

Al Dabaiba said that the steadfastness of Libyans against the extension project, supported internationally from abroad, made the dismantling of the stranglehold on this people, and stop its blackmail be an inexpensive solution in which it never gives up principles, and we are with the civil state, real reconciliation, and the right of Libyans to transparent and fair elections on constitutional grounds, stressing that he will not accept power-sharing for extension, and suspicious deals. He also confirmed readiness of his government to hold elections immediately when the High National Election Commission announces a specified date, declaring at the end of his speech that he will announce tomorrow at the cabinet meeting a number of measures, describing it as promising to improve the living situation of the citizen, after the return of oil production and exports.
