Rome, April 29, 2022 (LANA) - Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio stressed the need for broader cooperation in Libya, as it is one of the gateways to the Mediterranean through which thousands and thousands of migrants pass.
"We need broader cooperation in Libya, as it represents one of the gates to the Mediterranean through which thousands and thousands of migrants pass," the Italian Nova news agency quoted Di Maio as saying before the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
On the question of multilateralism and how to avoid crises like the ones we are seeing, also those we've seen in Syria, in Libya itself and in other parts of the world, such as the South Caucasus, the answer to how to best use the tool of multilateralism, is in multilateralism itself.
He added that the moment of stalemate in the United Nations Security Council, which we are currently witnessing with regard to the Ukrainian and other crises, requires us to move forward with the reform of the Security Council that Italy has long been promoting.
