The media office of the President of the Council stated that the meeting reviewed the efforts of the Presidential Council and the international efforts with the various political parties, with the aim of discussing various options for the success of the political process, maintaining stability in the country, and discussing ways to preserve what the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee has accomplished, and to continue its work with all its members. .
The Advisor to the Secretary-General, the Presidential Council, was also briefed on the results of the Cairo meetings between the House of Representatives and the State regarding the constitutional path and the steps taken towards consensus.
The Presidential Council renewed its call to all participants in the political process to give priority to the interest of the country, considering that consensus is the key to reaching a final solution to the Libyan crisis, achieving peace and national reconciliation and rebuilding the state, on the basis of security, justice and law.
During the meeting, the President of the Council and his two deputies stressed the continuation of work to make the political process a success, to reach the electoral benefits that all the Libyan people aspire to, at the same time praising the efforts of the United Nations in supporting the political track.
For his part, the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Zeninga, and the UN Adviser, Stephanie Williams, affirmed the mission's commitment to continue efforts to find a solution to the current political crisis, praising the efforts of the Presidential Council in bringing all parties involved in the political process closer.
Zeninga appealed to the Presidential Council to intervene to solve the problem raised by a number of members of the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee regarding the suspended salaries of the military establishment, expressing his hope to resume the work of the committee soon.
