Tripoli 15 October 2020 (LANA) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the Government of National Accord Mohamed Taher Siala called for a
reduction in the contribution of member states to the African Union
budget for 2021, so that it would be austere in view of the
exceptional economic conditions of African countries, given the
Corona pandemic that has burdened the budgets of African countries So
that the reduced amount can be compensated in upcoming budgets after
the pandemic is safely overrun.
According to the media office of the ministry, during a speech
delivered through closed circles at the meeting of the Executive
Council of the African Union, the minister emphasized the need to
implement the quota system in the distribution of jobs among the
countries of the Union, expressing Libya's aspiration for the
employee selection process to be highly efficient and to publish the
results of those who applied to fill various positions within The
African Union on the official website of the Commission, in
application of the principle of transparency in filling jobs.
He also referred to the role of regional mechanisms in bringing peace
and stability across the African continent within the efforts of the
African Union and the regional economic communities.
