Rome, 23.06.2020 - Lana - German Foreign Minister "Haikou Maas" and
Italian "Luigi de Mayo" held talks, Monday, on several issues,
including the Libyan file.
The two ministers went to the headquarters of the European Union
mission known as "IRINI" which was approved by the union system in
order to stop arms flows to Libya.
German Foreign Minister "Haikou Maas" said that the success of the
"IRINI" operation in imposing an arms embargo to Libya is important
to Germany and Italy, as well as its importance to Libya and peace in
it.
On the other hand, the Italian Foreign Minister "Luigi de Mayo"
confirmed that his country seeks to avoid any attempts to divide
Libya due to the ongoing military conflict, calling for a peaceful
solution between only Libyans and without the interference of
external parties.
"De Mayo" stated that the Libyans suffered greatly during the years
that were said to be less "lean", which witnessed raging wars and
successive stages of transition, all of which failed.
