confirmed that Libya will not stabilize unless the two sides in the
fighting agree to a ceasefire.
"Merkel" , in her speech, on foreign policy at the "Conrad Adenau"
institution, renewed her call for a cease-fire in Libya, and the
resumption of political talks to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The German chancellor considered that Africa and developments in
Libya will remain important topics for Berlin, during its six-month
presidency of the European Union, starting from next July.
She stressed that developments in Libya in recent weeks have shown
that there is no chance for stability in Libya, unless the parties
implement the ceasefire plan and return to the negotiating table,
under the auspices of the United Nations.
On January 19, 2020, the German capital Berlin hosted a conference on
Libya, with high-level international participation, after the
Libyan-Libyan talks, which took place recently, in Moscow, in the
presence of representatives of the Russian Federation and Turkey.
Participants in the Berlin conference issued a closing statement
calling for the strengthening of the armistice in Libya, and working
constructively within the framework of the Joint Military Committee
"5 + 5" to achieve a cease-fire in the country, stop attacks on oil
installations, form a unified Libyan military forces, and ban the
supply of arms To Libya.
