German Foreign Ministry Discloses Details of Ceasefire Agreement in Libya.

Berlin, 27 February 2020(Lana) German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas
has welcomed the ceasefire draft agreement reached the 5+5 Military
Committee, revealing that the agreement provided for return of
civilians and a joint monitoring mechanism to be manned by the UN and
parties to the conflict.
Maas described the agreement as a big stride saying 'the matter
now for the parties to the conflict to take the opportunity to a real
ceasefire'. He also urged the parties to accept a draft made by
military representatives, according to a statement published by the
German Media Centre on its SMS page on Tuesday.
UN Support Mission in Libya UNSMIL said the two sides have worked
on a draft agreement for a lasting ceasefire, to facilitate return of
displaced civilians to their homes with a monitoring mechanism to be
conducted by the UN and the 5+5 Committee.
The two sides have agreed to further consult with their
superiors, and agreed to meet again next month to resume talks, and
work out mission and competence of sub-committees, it said.
