Rome, 11.01.2020 - Lana - Italian press reports stated that the
European Union is considering appointing the former Italian Minister
of the Interior, "Marco Minetti" as a possible Italian envoy to
Libya.
The Italian agency "Nova" quoted from the first assistant to the
President of the European Commission, "France Timmermans" in press
statements, that he is considering "Minetti" as an Italian special
envoy to Libya, in a move that shows the geopolitical dimension of
the European Commission.
Timmermans considered that the situation in Libya should be a top
priority for the European Union, and not only for immigration,
explaining that he is convinced that throughout North Africa, Egypt,
Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, we must show understanding that without
them there will be no stability in the region.
