France: Terrorist Organisations Linked to ISIS Could Extend to Chad, Nigeria and Libya.
Pulbished on:
Paris, 17 December 2019(Lana) French Foreign Minister Jean Yves
Le Drian has expressed concern over terrorist organisations,
especially those linked to ISIS, that they could form an arch
extending from Chad to Nigeria and Libya up to the Middle East.
The warning came against the backdrop of an attack hundreds of
terrorists carried out against the military camp Aintas in western
Niger near the border with Mali, which lasted several hours and led
to the killing of 71 and a number missing.
The Terrorist threat in the region is still there, and there is
an arch of terror groups in the making, Le Drian said, noting that
there was a danger the terror groups could spread to Chad, Nigeria
and Libya.
The French Minister reinforced the idea of holding a summit
meeting with the 5 leaders of Sahel countries in France in January,
so that they can decide their positions to the French force
'Barkhane' to confront the armed men.
