Meeting of Libya's Neighbours to be Held on Sidelines of Mediterranean Dialogue Forum in Rome Next Month.
Pulbished on:
Rome, 14 November 2019(Lana) Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di
Maio announced Wednesday that a meeting of Libya's neighbours would
be held on the margins of the Mediterranean Dialogue Forum, which
Italy conducts annually from 5-7 December.
Di Maio said during a joint hearing session for the House and
Senate Foreign Affairs Committees 'in the face of Libyan crisis, our
goal is to achieve stability in the country.' He explained that
Italy's action takes two main tracks, easing intensity of conflict
which could lead to a ceasefire, and resuming the UN-led political
process by the Special Envoy Ghasan Salama.
The Italian Minister, however, hinted in press statement late
September that US President supported Italy's strategy in Libya.
Di Maio said he was confident that the desired signal from
American President to support Italy's strategy to bring peace to
Libya would come in the appropriate time.
