Libya holds the presidency of the Arab Council of Ministers for the Environment at the 31st session held in Cairo.

Cairo, 26.10.2019 - Lana - Libya has took over the presidency of
the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment on
Thursday at the 31st session of the Council held at the headquarters
of the General Secretariat of the Arab League States in Cairo.
According to the website of the Ministry of Local Government of the
National Accord government 'NAG', Libya was elected unanimously by
all Arab member states to head the executive office of the Council of
Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment
The Minister of Local Government and Head of the Libyan delegation to
the 31st session, Dr. 'Milad Al-Taher', thanked the ministers and
heads of delegations for this confidence, noting that Libya pays
special attention to the problems of the local and regional
environment
He added that Libya was one of the first countries to issue a
general law for the protection of the environment in 1982 and the
establishment of a public authority for the environment in 1985,
which is responsible for overseeing the protection of the environment
and signed several regional and international agreements in the field
of environmental protection.
