UNICEF: All Libyan Parties Should Refrain From Shelling Civilians.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 24 October 2019(Lana) The UN children organisation
UNICEF said that recent attacks served as a reminder that children
pay the heaviest price as violence continued in a number of areas in
western Libya.
Children must be protected anytime anywhere, and all parties to
the conflict should refrain from shelling civilian targets including
homes, hospitals and schools the Organization said.
UNICEF cited reports in which 3 children and two women were
killed on Thursday last week as they were travelling in a car 16km
from Tripoli.
On October 14, the Organization said three sisters were killed
and their mother was wounded when their home was shelled in southern
Tripoli.
The organisation noted that a day earlier, a 13 year child was
killed in his family's home. 5 others were wounded when their school
was hit in the area of Janzour 18 km from the capital.
