UN Mission Deeply Appalled by Raid on Equestrian Club in Janzour.

Tripoli, 7 October 2019(Lana) The UN Support Mission in Libya UMSMIL has said it was deeply appalled by the airstrike which targeted the Equestrian Club in Janzour, west of Tripoli. Reports said the raid which occurred yesterday afternoon wounded a number of children and sustained damage to the club's facilities. 'UNSMIL dispatched an assessment mission to identify the targeted site and the nature of the attack', UNSMIL said. 'The assessment team was able to confirm that a fighter jet dropped 4 unguided bombs on the Equestrian Club, a civilian facility, that neither military assets nor military infrastructure were observed at the site, it added. UNSMIL said 'it condemns in the strongest possible terms this horrific attack against civilians and civilian infrastructure and considers it a grave violation of international and humanitarian law, and may constitute a war crime. It also said it would share information and evidence gathered with the Security Council, the Panel of Experts and other relevant international entities. =Lana=
