New York, 24 September 2019(Lana) French Foreign Minister Jean
Yves Le Drian has said that he would chair, with his Italian
counterpart, a meeting on Libya on Thursday, which he said aims to
organize an international conference to end the bloody conflict in
the country.
In a press conference on the eve of the UN General Assembly
meeting, Le Drian was quoted by the French News Agency as saying,
'the goal of the conference is to engage in a political process,
there is no military solution to the conflict in Libya.'
'Those who think the solution in Libya is a military one are
wrong, and they risk pushing the country to a dangerous sliding, Le
Drian said, adding that the whirlwind in Libya must end.
The French Agency indicated that the Italian-French meeting would
also include permanent members of the UN Security Council and
Germany, UAE, Egypt, Turkey, as well as regional organisations, the
EU, the AU and the League of Arab states.
