Libyans Celebrate 24 December Independence Day.

Tripoli, 25 December 2018(Lana) Libyans celebrated on Monday the
67th anniversary of the Independence Day on 24 December in 1951.
The Independence Day capped a long straggle which lasted for two
decades during which Libyan freedom fighters fought epic battles
against the Italian colonial forces in almost every corner of the
country.
Libyans hope that the Independence Day anniversary will be an
occasion to come together, to unite and to shun off grudges and
hatreds of the past, to rebuild the country after years of despotism,
illusion and futile governance.
Hope is pinned on the new year 2019 as the year which Libyan look
forward to be the one that witness the end of transition period, to
give way for a presidential and parliamentary elections which will
put the country on the right track, and ensure a peaceful transition
of power, freedom and prosperity for all of the residents of the
country.
Meanwhile, the Presidency Council of the Government of National
Accord has announced that Monday Dec 24 is an official holiday in
Libya, to mark the anniversary, except for vital services and
security apparatus across the country.
