Siala at Border Security Conference in Sudan:'Our Region Faces Challenges That We Should Collectively Meet.

Khartoum, 9 August 2018(Lana) The GNA Foreign Minister Mohamed
Siala has praised support for the Government of National Accord
locally and internationally, in its effort to restore peace and
stability in the country.
Speaking at the Ministerial Conference on enhancement of
cooperation in security and control of borders between Libya, Sudan,
Niger and Chad in Khartoum, Siala said 'this support along with
national and international efforts would enable us to achieve
positive results along the consensus track that we have chosen.'
Siala informed participants of the latest developments in the
political situation in Libya, indicating that the Paris declaration
has called for referendum on the constitution and presidential and
parliamentary elections in December.
The success of What has been agreed in Paris Remains subject to
cooperation and commitment to obligations by the Libyan parties,
Siala said, adding that the Government of National Consensus has
fulfilled all its obligations towards the electoral process by
allocating the funds and providing the facilities to enable a fair
and transparent elections, and is pushing to reunite the Libyan
National Army.
Siala said the GNA Government welcomes international efforts to
resolve the crisis, and stressed that the efforts integrated and
consistent and there are no differences in vision and approach.
Only joint work will make tangible results on the ground, the
Minister said.
The danger faced by the region, Siala went, is one danger, and
the events that happen now and again give evidence to a week security
system that created a suitable environment for the outlaw and
terrorist groups to move and act freely.
The crimes perpetrated by these groups are forbidden by all
religions, and would only increase our resolve to fight terrorism by
better control of our borders to undercut terrorist groups ability to
regroup and communicate with one another.
The Minister concluded by stressing Libya commitment to what has
been agreed at the meeting as a step in the right direction, saying
such commitment will positively reflect on our countries and regional
environment and indeed on the southern flank of the Mediterranean.
