Al sarraj makes brief visit to Chad.

Ndjamena, 26 July 2018 (Lana) President of Presidency Council,
Fayez Al Sarraj made Wednesday a brief visit to Chad during which he
conducted talks with the Chadian President, Idriss Deby covering
bilateral relations in various fields.
President Deby renewed Chad's support to the Presidency Council
and GNA, praising the efforts of Al Sarrj to restore stability in
Libya. He said the Libyan role was fundamental and effective in
establishing the AU and what is happening in Libya is impacting
across the country. Deby said Chad has no special agenda in Libya,
only a desire to achieve security, stability and peace in the
neighbouring country. He said the Chadians know what wars mean and
they do not want the repetition of such a thing in a brotherly
country.
Al Sarrj for his part stressed the depth of Libyan -Chadian
relations. He said although his visit to Chad is late but he met with
President Deby in many international fora, stressing the importance
of the role of Chad in supporting stability in Libya looking forward
to develop Libyan-Chad relations conducive to the interests of the
two peoples.
Al-Sarrj outlined the developments in Libya since the signing of
the political accord and efforts made for reconciliation among
political parties.
The two sides agreed on coordination between the relevant
agencies in the two countries through the common borders to fight
terrorism, and human smugglers and traffickers.
The two parties also agreed to implement the security protocol
signed last April in Niamey by Libya, Chad, Niger and Sudan which was
considered a cooperation framework in the face of security threats at
the borders.
The two sides agreed to hold a similar meeting next August in
Khartoum to discuss developments and ways to secure common borders
and stop infiltrations.
A joint statement was issued at the end of the visit covering the
points agreed at the meeting, and an invitation was extended to
President of Chad to visit Libya which was accepted and its date to
be fixed through diplomatic channels.
