Tunis, 15 July 2018 (Lana) Team of Libyan financers discussed
with IMF team in Tunis Sunday ways to confront the shadow economy in
Libya and its impact on economic activities in the country.
IMF experts said the size of the shadow economy exceeded 60%
according to latest released reports of the total GDP for 1995 to
2016.
UN envoy to Libya said last March that Libya will not be stable
unless the shadow economy is eradicated, and said that conflict in
Libya cannot end unless black economy is rooted out. In this respect
UN Security Council issued warrants of arrest against major
traffickers including human traffickers.
