President of Presidency Council meets EU External Relations High Representative.

Tripoli, 15 July 2018 (Lana) President of Presidency Council, of the GNA, Fayez Al Sarraj met the High External Relations Representative of the EU, Federica Moghreni and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of EU ambassador to Libya and several other EU senior officials, and Foreign Minister, Mohamed Siala and Political Advisor to the President were also at the meeting. The President welcomed Moghreni and her delegation highly praising EU efforts in support of the GNA to realize stability in Libya. Al sarrj also touched on Oil crescent developments, asserting that oil is the only source of income in the country and should be distanced from political disputes and adventures. The president expressed desire to build genuine partnership between Libya and the EU, and in this respect Moghreni approved the request of the president to activate the joint committees. The EU senior official renewed EU emphasis on full support to the GNA and the efforts made by the president to restore peace and security, stability and prosperity to the country. She also expressed her satisfaction at transcending the oil crescent crisis and returning to normality, asserting that oil wealth belongs to all Libyans and should be employed to revive the Libyan economy and realize prosperity to the country, and to prevent repetition of the events that took place at more than one level pointing out that EU policy is geared towards stability of Libya and the concern not only focused on illegal migration but there are many projects to support Libya at the economic level, supporting municipalities, state institutions and training programmes to train Libyan coast guard, joint programmes to secure southern borders besides readiness of the EU to grant scholarships to Libyan students at European Universities.
