President of Presidency Council discusses with head of IOM programmes to deal with illegal migrants.

Tripoli, 4 July 2018 (Lana) President of Presidency Council, Fayez Al Sarraj received Wednesday head of International Organization for Migration (IOM) accompanied by a delegation comprising; Middle East Region director for IOM, Director of European region and the security director of the organization, and Libyan file officer at IOM. For the Libyan side it was attended by Deputy Minister for political Affairs, Lutfi Al Meghrbi, the Political Advisor to the President, Al taher Al Senni, and Head of European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Head of IOM said the visit to Tripoli was to help Libya deal with the migration issue and the displaced. Al sarrj said his government offers humanitarian support according to available resources to migrants held at detention centres until they are repatriated. He said migrants at the detention centres comprise a fraction of the total number of migrants present in the country. He expressed confidence that collaboration with IOM would have a positive impact in addressing issues related to migration due to IOM expertise in the field. Al Sarraj however, said the issue of migration not only concerns Libya but the international community as whole and addressing it needed the collaboration and coordination among all relevant parties, renewing Libya's stance vis -a-vis the issue of illegal migration which should not be confined to only security aspect but a comprehensive remedy of the issue. He also called for the need to support countries of origin to create development projects and provide work opportunities for youth, and set up a comprehensive system that addresses all aspects of the case and foremost fighting gangs that work on human trafficking. Head of IOM said the view point of IOM is in line with the stance of the president which is against settling migrants in any form. They agreed at the meeting to convene further meetings between the IOM and Libyan authorities concerned with illegal migration. =Lana=
