NOC Declares 'Force Majeure' in Al Fil Oil Fields.

    Tripoli, 25 February 2018(Lana) The National Oil Company has 
declared a state of 'force Majeurs at the Al Fil Oil Fields in 
southern Libya as of Friday Feb 23, shutting down operation and 
evacuating personnel after a group of so called Oil Facilities Guard 
Force, Fezzan branch entered into company offices, messed up papers, 
threatened workers and shot in the air to intimidate them.
    The Chairman of the Board of the company Mustafa Sun'allah said 
the company was putting the safety of workers first.
    The oil facilities guard force is affiliated with the Ministry of
Defence and it was the ministry that should meet their demands not 
the NOC, Sun'allah said.
    The NOC is providing food supplies and fuel for the guard force 
elements who are deployed at the facilities, but it cannot provide 
supplies for hundreds who claim to be belong to the guard force away 
from the facilities and who are increasing in number, Sun'allah 
added.
    He called on the competent authorities responsible for protecting
oil fields to address this issue and reconsider the body.
    The NOC is in contact with the tribal leaders of the Tabou clan 
in a bid to re-open the fields as soon as possible, the NOC Chairman 
said.
