President of Presidency Council Meets New British Ambassador.

    Tripoli, 18 February 2018(Lana) The President of the Presidency 
Council of the Government of National Accord Fayez Al Serraj held 
audience with the new British Ambassador to Libya Frank Baker, his 
deputy and the First Secretary.
    The British Ambassador said he was delighted to meet the 
President of the Presidency Council, and to take over as an 
ambassador for the UK in Libya.
    The UK supported Al Serraj's effort to make the consensus track 
in Libya a success, teh Ambassador said.
    He said his country was committed to the plan offered by the UN 
Special Envoy to Libya Ghasan Salama, which called for presidential 
and parliamentary elections.
    Al Serraj welcomed the new ambassador wishing success in carrying
out his duties as ambassador of his country in Libya to further 
cement relationship between the two countries.
    Al Serraj stressed the strong relations between Libya and the UK 
and invited the UK to play a bigger role in solving the political and
economic bottlenecks in the country.
    The meeting which was held at the Government headquarters also 
dealt with the developments in the country and bilateral cooperation.
