UN Rejects Attempts at Using Dec.
Pulbished on:
17 as Pretext to Act
Against Political Process.
Tripoli, 13 December 2017(Lana) The Head of the UN Support
Mission in Libya Ghasan Salama has said that 'the UN rejects attempts
to use December 17, as a pretext to act against the ongoing political
process, stressing that the date did not undermine the validity of
the Political Agreement which remains the reference framework for
running the country and reaching a political solution.
'Fulfilling the election entitlement requires time and effort
more than anybody could anticipate, to create the necessary
conditions for holding the general elections, the final step of the
UN plan in Libya, Salama said at a meeting with the President of the
High State Council here on Tuesday.
As for uniting the military, Salama said the UN mission has
selected a neutral country with the expertise in the field, to host
the talks on unification of the Libya Army and would be announced in
due time.
