Italian Foreign Minister Receives UN Envoy to Libya.

    Rome, 8 August 2017(Lana) The Italian Government announced 
Tuesday that Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano was to meet the UN 
Special Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salama.
    The Rome meeting, according to AKI news agency, came in the 
aftermath of the first visit by the UN Envoy to Libya, which involved
the capital Tripoli and the cities of Al Guba and Al Beidha where the
Envoy met separately with President of the Presidency Council Fayez 
Al Serraj, the President of the High State Council Abdul Rahman Al 
Swehli and the Speaker of Parliament Ageela Saleh.
    The UN Support Mission in Libya UNSMIL said Salama stressed at   
meetings with Libyan parties that 'any solution should be a 
Libyan-led.'
    The UN, he added, is prepared to work with you, to build on the 
proposals you offer, and with national reconciliation effort to 
coordinate work to achieve consensus, overcome obstacles and restore 
peace and stability to the country.
    Salam said he was optimistic that Libya would get out of its 
crisis fairly shortly.
