Consultative meeting between Ministry of Health and WHO.

Tripoli, 28.02.2017(Lana) Ministry of Health (GNA) convened a
consultative meeting with World Health Organization office in Libya
with the support of the EU and European Commission for Humanitarian
Aid and Civilian Protection to review the health situation in Libya.
The meeting discussed the mechanism towards a strategic plan to
improve measures taken to face public health challenges in Libya.
Minister of Health, Dr Omar Bashir underscored the importance of
the meeting as it sheds light on the need to coordinate support
offered by partners to strengthen planning for capacities'
development in the health sector.
The Resident Coordinator, Undersecretary General for Humanitarian
Affairs in Libya, Maria Do Valle Ribeiro for her part underlined the
need for secure access of all Libyans to health care.
WHO representative and Head of Mission, Dr Ja'afar Hussein made a
briefing on the current health situation in the country, and called
for an integrated support for all partners in the health sector to
strengthen planning for the health system in Libya.
Public health experts from all levels of the organization,
Ministry of Health officials and non-profit organizations working in
the health sector as well as donors representatives attended the
meeting.
