Tripoli, 7 February 2017(Lana) Foreign Ministers of EU member states have renewed their support for the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord, which they said was a more credible interlocutor. They called on all parties to act in the spirit of a positive dialogue, and to join the political process. According to the Italian Akipress news agency, the Ministers urged all Libyan parties to avoid any action that might undermine political transition in Libya. This position was contained in a statement issued by the EU Foreign Ministers, following a meeting in Brussels on Libya, with implied messages for all parties to the conflict in the country. The Union focused on the need to stick to the content of UN Security Council Resolutions on Libya. As for migration, a pivotal aspect of EU relations with Libya, the statement said the EU would continue to work to upgrade the efficiency of the Libyan coast guard, and the competent Libyan authorities so they can exercise control on the borders and deal with the irregular migration.
