Libyan Dossier on the Table of EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 6 February 2017(Lana) The Libyan dossier is features
high on the agenda of the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels
today.
According to the Italian news agency the meeting will discuss
assistance to the Government of National Accord to claim sovereignty
over the whole Libyan territory, control of borders and tackling the
issue of irregular migration, as well as internal challenges.
The agency cited assertions by the British Foreign Office
Secretary Boris Johnson of the importance of the EU diplomatic drive
to re-unite the eastern and western parts of the country, and that
the Al Sukheirat Agreement was a key document that can be built on.
The Belgian Foreign Minister Dediat Renders statement was in the
same direction that the European assistance for the Government of
National Accord was important.
Renders conceded that Libya could not keep refugees on its
territory, saying 'we should help them by working with the countries
of origin, and promoting a policy of returning those to their
original countries.'
