Pulbished on:
Sabratha, 29.01.2017(Lana) Libyan Navy patrol working from Zawia
refinery post, managed to rescue 700 illegal immigrants on board two
boats three miles from Sabratha.
Libyan Navy spokesman, Col Ayub Qassem told Lana that immigrants
including several Libyans belong to Arab and African nationalities
from Syria, Palestine, and Tunisia. He pointed out the navy patrol
came under fire by smugglers in an attempt to foil the rescue
operation but their attempt failed and the immigrants were rescued.
The navy directed the boat to Zawia refinery port where the coast
guard post is located to offer humanitarian assistance before handing
them over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in Zawia.
