Arab League Secretary General Discuss With UN and AF Envoys Joint Coordination Over Libyan Crisis.

Cairo, 23 January 2017(Lana) A consultative meeting was held
here on Sunday that brought together the Secretary General of the
Arab League Ahmed Abu Al Ghaith , the UN Special Envoy to Libya
Martin Kobler, and AU High Representative to Libya Jakaya Kikwite as
part of the troika made of the three organisations to coordinate
efforts to push for a political settlement for the Libyan crisis.
A statement issued by the Arab League today said the meeting was
designed to continue with consultations between the three
organisations over the concerted efforts to encourage dialogue
between the Libyan parties to reach a consensus solution in line with
the Political Agreement signed in December 2016.
The meeting dealt with the joint steps that can be taken by the
organisations to push the settlement and reconciliation effort in the
coming period including putting in place a plan that could enable the
Libyan parties overcome the obstacles before the political process.
The three officials agreed on the need to continue to explore a
concerted regional and international approach to assist Libya and its
legitimate institutions to deal with political and security
challenges, and stress the importance of strengthening cooperation
with Libya'a neighboring countries.
The 10th meeting of Libya's neighboring countries held in Cairo
on Saturday renewed support for the Presidency Council of the
Government of National Accord, calling on the Parliament to grant it
confidence, to tackle the political, economic and security problems
in the country.
