The talks were led on the Libyan side by the Head of the
Presidency Council Fayez Al Saraj and the Foreign Minister Mohamed
Siala, and on the Maltese side by the Prime Minister Joseph Moscat
and the Foreign Minister George Fila.
The two sides discussed ways of combating terrorism and irregular
migration. They also reviewed mechanisms of following up the
conditions of members of the Libyan community living in Malta,
facilitating visas and residence in Malta, and re-opening the Maltese
embassy in Tripoli shortly.
The Head of the Presidency Council arrived in Malta on Wednesday,
at the invitation of the Maltese Government. He was accompanied by
the Delegate Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala.
He was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Moscat and
the Foreign Minister George Fila, as well as Libya's Ambassador to
Malta Al Habib Lamin.
Al Saraj's visit, weeks before Malta assumes the chairmanship of
the European Union gives importance to the talks between officials
and opens up prospects of promoting Libya's position in the European
Union in the political, security and economic areas.
