Nato Secretary General: No Intention to Intervene in Libya Militarily.
Pulbished on:
Brussels, 19 May 2016(Lana) Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg
said 'there was no intention for Nato to intervene in Libya
militarily or any operations in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Brussels on the eve of the
alliance's foreign ministers, Stoltenberg said the ministers were
expected to discuss the situation in Libya, saying Libya could be
best helped with training its cadres and building capacities once the
government requested that. He indicated that he had a meeting with
the Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al Saraj on Nato assistance
prospects.
Stoltenberg stressed the need for Libyans to recognize that they
had to raise the level of their capacities and to build the
institutions and the infrastructure of their state, if they wanted to
live in security and strength. He said Nato's help in this way could
be more useful than intervention.
