Tripoli, April 30, 2025 (LANA) – The Presidential Council issued Decree No. 1 of 2025 suspending the effects of Law No. 5 of 2023, issued by the House of Representatives, establishing the Supreme Constitutional Court.
Article 1 of the decree stipulates the suspension of all effects of Law No. 5 of 2023, issued by the House of Representatives, establishing the Supreme Constitutional Court, effective from the date of issuance of this decree, due to the law's unconstitutionality, according to a ruling by the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court.
Article 2 of the decree calls on the Presidential Council to assume its powers to issue the necessary decisions to protect the political process and ensure compliance with the final judicial rulings issued by the Supreme Court, based on the outcomes of the Geneva Forum.
Article 3 of the decree considers any action or decision issued pursuant to the aforementioned law null and void and without any legal effect. Overseeing national reconciliation programs implemented by the High National Reconciliation Commission within the municipality. Article 4 obligates all relevant executive and judicial authorities to implement this decree and take the necessary measures to ensure compliance with its provisions and protect the political and constitutional process.
Article 5 of the decree calls on relevant authorities to implement and enforce it from the date of its issuance and to repeal any provision that contradicts it.
