The High Council for Energy Affairs holds its 11th meeting, headed by Dabaiba

Tripoli, December 5, 2024 (LANA) - The eleventh regular meeting of the High Council for Energy and Water Affairs was held at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation today, Thursday, headed by the Chairman of the Council, Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba.

The meeting was attended by the Council's supervising member, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbouh, and members of the Council, to discuss a number of files related to the oil, gas, electricity and water sectors, according to the government's media office.

During the meeting, the executive procedures for starting the public tender round aimed at offering new exploration blocks were discussed. Council member, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat bin Qadara, presented a presentation on the public tender round to offer a number of blocks for exploration in land and sea areas, after the procedures manual was approved and the new standard agreement was prepared after making the necessary technical amendments.

The technical committee presented a light presentation showing the areas and discoveries that will be offered in the 2024 public announcement round, which amounted to 22 new blocks, the technical procedures according to the approved implementation schedule, and the modern method of bidding by entering the virtual data room.

The technical departments of the Corporation also reviewed the progress of the production increase plan to the Council, stressing their commitment to the approved timetable, noting that production today reached 1.422 million barrels of oil and condensates.

The attendees discussed settling the status of the Ras Lanuf refinery after completing the procedures for the foreign partner's exit and approving the Corporation to purchase the share.

The Council recommended the necessity of operating and modernizing the refinery to contribute to providing the petroleum derivatives needed by the local market.

The Council also discussed the project to establish the #Tripoli_Grand_Reservoir, which is planned to be implemented by the Great Man-Made River Project Implementation and Management Authority, as the Council affirmed its support and approval of the development projects offered by the River Authority and the provision of safe financial allocations to address the water scarcity suffered by a number of municipalities and regions, with the necessity of coordinating with the relevant executive agencies in implementing water supply line projects and main and sub-reservoirs and linking them with the production of the River Authority.

At the end of the meeting, Dabaiba stressed the support of the Government of National Unity for the Corporation's plan to increase oil and gas production, and to give priority in the development plan to projects to provide drinking water and implement water supply lines
