Tripoli, April 10, 2024 (LANA) - The Public Prosecutor announced the pardon of (1,345) convicts from the correctional and rehabilitation institutions, who met the conditions and controls of the pardon, and the commencement of procedures for their release.

A statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office stated yesterday, Tuesday, that in accordance with Supreme Judicial Council Resolution No. (56) of 2024 regarding pardoning the implementation of the remainder of the sentence, members of the prosecution, assigned to divisions that track the activity of the judicial police in the areas of the courts of appeal, have undertaken the task of studying the documents for the implementation of the rulings on criminal charges against convicts who are inmates of correctional and rehabilitation institutions.

The statement added that the conditions that apply are in accordance with the established controls regarding pardon from executing the remainder of the sentence; There were one thousand three hundred and forty-five convicts.

Last Monday, the Public Prosecution decided to implement the procedures for implementing the special pardon decision on those convicts, and directed the judicial police to initiate the procedure for their release.
