Tripoli, September 19, 2023 (LANA) - The head of the Audit Bureau referred a report to the Attorney General, including all the incidents of the failure of the Derna and Abu Mansour dam maintenance projects.

A source at the Audit Bureau stated that the report recommended investigating those responsible for not completing these projects despite the availability of the appropriate environment and the necessary funds during the periods from the date of the contract until the occurrence of the disaster, and commissioning an international consulting office to ascertain the extent of a direct relationship between the faltering of dam maintenance projects and their collapse in light of the size of the hurricane.

According to the source, the report confirmed in this regard that the contracting party obtained the necessary contractual approvals to implement these projects on the contract dates of 2007 and 2009, and that the funds necessary for implementation have been made available to the implementing companies, and that there are no supervisory restrictions by the Bureau that hinder implementation operations until the date of the collapse of the dams and the occurrence of the disaster.
