The ministry’s data indicates that last month, witnessed a slowdown in the number of arrivals to Italy compared to last year, with the arrival of (7492) people in the last 30 days compared to (8720) people in May 2022, as a result of bad weather and anti-smugglers’ activities in North Africa. .
Specifically, the agency explained that (1554) of these people set sail from Tunisia and (5825) from Libya, thus overtaking Tunisia in recent weeks in terms of the number of migrants crossing its lands towards southern Italy.
