UN Secretary-General renews the support of the UN to the political process by the Libyans' leadership and ownership.

New York, 2 August 2022 (Lana) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, renewed UN support for the political process by the Libyans' leadership and ownership, to face the outstanding challenges and ensure holding of presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Guterres praised the achievements of Stephanie Williams, after she ended her mission as a Special Adviser on Libya, stressing that he was grateful for her service to the organization and her dedication in seeking a solution for the political crisis in Libya.

Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Stephan Dujarric, quoted him as saying, "Williams made crucial contributions to the signing of the ceasefire agreement throughout the country in October 2020, the adoption of the political roadmap by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in November 2020, and the unprecedented level of the consensus reached in the Joint Committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on a constitutional framework for the elections.
