Chadian President: Mercenaries must leave and Libyans should be left to choose their future.

N'Djamena, 19 January, 2022 (Lana) - Head of Chadian Interim Military Council, Mohamed Idriss Deby, described his country's relationship with Libya as a strong relationship between two neighboring countries that share a lot of ties, and that what happens in Libya always has repercussions in Chad.

 In an interview with Al-Jazeera satellite channel broadcast, Wednesday, Mohammed Deby affirmed his conviction that the solution in Libya must be Libyan, and that all international forces and mercenary movements leave Libya and leave the Libyans to choose their future for themselves. On the fate of the Chadian armed movements present in Libya, (the interim military president of Chad clarified that these movements are welcome to return to the country and participate in state building, but provided that they disarm on the borders and not enter the country with arms.

Mohamed Idriss Déby took over as the new leader of Chad, after his father, Idriss Déby, was killed in April 2021, during clashes with rebels in the north of the country. Muhammad Deby is now the head of the 15-member Transitional Military Council and will hold power for 18 months since taking over.
