Tripoli, 17 April 2016(Lana) The Presidential Council of the
National Accord Government on Saturday received German Foreign
Minister Frank Steinmer and the French Foreign Minister Jean Marc
Eyrlaut who arrived earlier in the Libyan capital.
The Head and members of the Presidential Council highlighted the
relationship between Libya and France and also between Libya and
Germany, and the support that both countries offered to Libya in the
uprising against the former regime, and also during the political
dialogue, stressing that this role still was key and effective.
The Chair of the Council said the migration is one of the key
issues tackled by the government. He appreciated the technical
support offered in the security field, provided that it was an
assistance not intervention, and also within the programme prepared
by the government and in coordination with it.
The French and German Ministers said the security arrangements they
saw after arriving at the airport indicated that the situation in
Tripoli is stable, and this encourages us the international community
to gradually return our diplomatic missions.
They said a committee was to be set up to facilitate the return of
diplomatic missions, and to activate cooperation treaties between
Libya and their countries, which would positively impact the economic
situation and return of foreign investments to the country.
