Celebrations marking the 64th anniversary of Libya independence.

Tripoli, 24.12.2015(Lana) Celebrations marking the 64th
anniversary of Libya independence were kicked off Thursday at martyrs
square. The independence crowned the bitter struggle waged by the
Libyan people during which Libyans offered so many martyrs in epic
struggle across the country and over two decades.
The celebration was attended by President of GNC, Nuri
Abusahmain, Head of National Salvation Government, Khalifa
Al-Ghawial, and several members of his cabinet, chief of staff of the
Libyan army Maj-Gen Abdussalem Al-Abiedi and several Libyan army
officers.
large crowed of the public from Tripoli and nearby cities
attended the celebrations.
President of GNC, Nuri Abusahmain greeted the Libyans who attended
the celebration, " Libya is an independent and sovereign country
whose people were deprived celebrating this day. Libya will remain
for all and above all. We are honored by February revolution and
affiliation to it. All honour is for the martyrs, the wounded, the
orphans, widows across our beloved homeland" he added.
Head of National Salvation Government, Khalifa Al-Ghawial, for
his part congratulated all Libyan people for marking this day which
crowned the struggle of the forefathers.
Preserving victory is harder than gaining it, he said. " Today we
mark the sunrise of a new era which ended the era of hardship,
corruption, tyranny, arrests, injustice, imprisonment, poverty,
ignorance and disease disguised by false and slanderous slogans" he
added.
Many other speeches marking the occasion were made expressing the
magnitude of this day.
Then, a military parade was staged by the forces and machineries
of the General staff of the Libyan army affiliated to the GNC, and
Tripoli Security directorate as air force planes hovered over head.
