GNC Deputy President: Government to Operate From Tripoli.
Pulbished on:
Tunis, 8 December 2015(Lana) The anticipated government in Libya
would only be in and operate from Tripoli, the Deputy President of
the General National Congress Audh Abdul Sadeq told the Tunisian news
agency.
Abdul Sadeq was reacting to statements by the UN Special Envoy
Martin Kobler, who suggested that the government could temporarily
operate from a venue outside the capital.
He said the government would be in the capital and with support
of the Libyan people, it should not be announced by a non-Libyan
person, and would gain support of all friendly countries.
Earlier Kobler said the anticipated government could operate from
outside the Libyan capital Tripoli citing security reasons.
Abdul Sadeq said Tunisia's talks were conducted with official
approval from the GNC and the House of Representatives, and voiced
hope that UNSMIL would back this option when it has seen that the
solution was real.
