Kobler Says UN-Sponsored Agreement Basis for Ending Conflict in Libya.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 8 December 2015(Lana) The UN Special Envoy to Libya
Martin Kobler has asserted that the UN-Backed agreement to end the
conflict in Libya should be a basis for ending the conflict in the
country despite the signing in Tunisia of a declaration of principles
to end the political crisis in Libya.
In press statements published on UNSMIL website on Monday, Kobler
said the Libyan political agreement was the basis for ending the
conflict in the country since it was negotiated by the UN and was
backed by a majority of members of the House of Representatives and
the General National Congress.
Kobler urged Libyans and indeed those opposed to the agreement to
reconsider their position, saying it would pave the way for
reunification of the country and combating terrorism and addressing
the deteriorating economic situation.
Kobler's statements followed a 3 point declaration of principles
signed by delegates from the House of Representatives and the General
National Congress to end the political crisis in the country.
