Kobler officially takes over as Special Representative of UN Secretary General and Head of UNSMIL.

Tripoli, 17.11.2015(Lana) The German diplomat, Martin Kobler
took over Tuesday his tasks as Special Represednetative of UN
Secretray General and Head of UNSMIL in Libya, succeeding the Spanish
Bernardino Leon according to the official website of the mission.
In statement posted on the official website of UNSMIL, Kobler
underscored that " Only through dialogue and unity can stability be
attained and the State authority be restored".
Kobler praised the efforts made by Libyan parties and the
tireless efforts exerted by the Libyan parties over the past year
have come a long way in bridging differences.
he said in the next few days, he would listen to the members of
the political dialogue and the proposed Presidency Council as well as
other Libyan partners to address and finalize the remaining small
number of outstanding issues.
The UN press office has announced that the German diplomat, Martin
Kobler would take over from the Spanish Bernardino Leon as UN envoy
to Libya on Tuesday.
In a statement Monday, the press office said Mr. Kobler is
committed to ensure that the UN continue facilitation of the Libyan
dialogue and build on what the Libyan parties realized up to now.
The veteran German diplomat, Kobler assumed senior UN positions
in Iraq, Congo Democratic Republic and replaces Leon at a difficult
time for the UN.
