Leon: Libyan people do not want confrontations and task of UN mission to respond to Libyan calls for peace.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 21.10.2015(Lana) Head of UNSMIL, Bernardino Leon
underlined that the Libyan people do not want confrontations and the
task of UNSMIL is to respond to Libyans demands to bring peace to
Libya.
At press conference in Tunis Wednesday afternoon, he said the
political life in Libya is not for the UN but for the Libyans
themselves who were important parties to dialogue and who have the
credit of putting it on the table of the international community.
On suffering of Benghazi such as killing, destruction and
displacement of families, head of UNSMIL said; there is a fund to
deal with problems in Benghazi and hope to answer all questions on
the city of Benghazi, I have inclination to Benghazi politically and
emotionally because it suffers.
Leon said the political process is still continuing in Libya and
we would held fresh meetings in the coming days and there would be
new rounds of dialogue about all details and proposals submitted by
the Libyans themselves from the parties of dialogue and outside it.
It is important and urgent to form a national consensus government in
Tripoli in order to send positive messages to the world especially
that the Libyans genuinely view that this process would ultimate
triumph.
