statement on Libyans detained in United Arab Emirates on the 1st
anniversary of their arrest.
In a statement read out by the ministry's spokesperson, Wesam
Al-Saghair said 'that one year after the arrest of the Libyan
nationals living in UAE by local authorities of this country without
their release or fully disclosing their fate, the Ministry of Justice
follows up with profound concern this file which comprises enormous
violations such as fundamental human rights ensured by international
agreements and instruments and domestic legislations in most
countries of the world including UAE laws.
"The Ministry is surprised by such acts by UAE without producing
criminal charges , serious investigations or fair trial of the
daintiness".
"It attributes all such acts to policies pursued by UAE towards Libya
in a bid to compromise Arab Spring revolutions which carry the
prospect of a fundamental change of Arab regimes. The incident of
detaining Libyan citizens by UAE represent a circle in chain of
hostile policies towards the revolutionary current in Libya" it
added.

affairs of Libya in a way that touches on Libyan sovereignty and
territorial integrity and calls on officials in this state to shun
away from whatever may undermine bilateral relations and not to work
for the support of the party hostile to the 17th February Revolution,
the statement added.
It further stated; "As we condemn the crime of arbitrary arrest,
torture, and inhumane degrading treatment of Libyan citizens in the
Emirates, we ask the Emirate authorities to release them immediately
and held them responsible for the deterioration of the health
conditions of the detainees. We consider ending the state of
continued arbitrary detention a religious, legal and moral
responsibility of all Gulf Cooperation Council states since the UAE
is a member of the GCC".
The ministry also appealed to the Arab Maghreb Union to shoulder
its responsibilities towards the Libyan citizens for Libya is a
members of the union, and the international community through the UN
and its Libya mission to stand in the face of such violations which
