Ministry of Justice issues statement on Libyan detainees in UAE.

Tripoli, 30.08.2015(Lana) NSG Ministry of Justice issued a statement on Libyans detained in United Arab Emirates on the 1st anniversary of their arrest. In a statement read out by the ministry's spokesperson, Wesam Al-Saghair said 'that one year after the arrest of the Libyan nationals living in UAE by local authorities of this country without their release or fully disclosing their fate, the Ministry of Justice follows up with profound concern this file which comprises enormous violations such as fundamental human rights ensured by international agreements and instruments and domestic legislations in most countries of the world including UAE laws. "The Ministry is surprised by such acts by UAE without producing criminal charges , serious investigations or fair trial of the daintiness". "It attributes all such acts to policies pursued by UAE towards Libya in a bid to compromise Arab Spring revolutions which carry the prospect of a fundamental change of Arab regimes. The incident of detaining Libyan citizens by UAE represent a circle in chain of hostile policies towards the revolutionary current in Libya" it added. The statement warned the Emirates not to slip into the internal affairs of Libya in a way that touches on Libyan sovereignty and territorial integrity and calls on officials in this state to shun away from whatever may undermine bilateral relations and not to work for the support of the party hostile to the 17th February Revolution, the statement added. It further stated; "As we condemn the crime of arbitrary arrest, torture, and inhumane degrading treatment of Libyan citizens in the Emirates, we ask the Emirate authorities to release them immediately and held them responsible for the deterioration of the health conditions of the detainees. We consider ending the state of continued arbitrary detention a religious, legal and moral responsibility of all Gulf Cooperation Council states since the UAE is a member of the GCC". The ministry also appealed to the Arab Maghreb Union to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Libyan citizens for Libya is a members of the union, and the international community through the UN and its Libya mission to stand in the face of such violations which are practiced covertly and without holding its perpetrators to account. =Lana=
