Rightist Group Emphsizes Demolition by Israeli Authorities of Palestinian Homes Violation of Human Rights.
Pulbished on:
Ramallah, 24 August 2105(Lana) A human rights group has
reaffirmed that the Israeli enemy sustained policy of demolishing
Palestinian homes was illegitimate and a violation of human rights.
The New York-based Human Rights Watch said the Israeli Army
illegally demolished at least 39 homes belonging to Palestinian rural
inhabitants in the West Bank on August 17 and 18.
The move resulted in 126 inhabitants including 80 children
becoming homeless, and the Israeli government plan was aimed at
forcibly resettling 7000 Palestinian Bedouins in four communities.
The organisation pointed out that the Geneva Fourth Convention
banned occupation authority destruction of property and re-settlement
of protected local population.
A statement issued by the HRW International Justice Programme
quoted the programme's leading consultant Belkis Jarrah as saying
'the escalation of illegal Israeli demolishing acts come at a time
the situation in Palestine is under scrutiny of the International
Criminal Court.
