Tripoli, 17.08.2015(Lana) Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo
Gentiloni has warned against the transfer of Libya into another
Somalia unless an accord is struck by Libyans through the ongoing UN
sponsored peace talks.
In an interview with the Italian La Stampa newspaper published
Monday, Gentiloni said; "Either we reach an accord within weeks or we
would find ourselves before a new Somalia few steps from our shores,
and then we would find ourselves obliged to move in another way'.
The minister explained that time is short especially when there
is a presence of state organization with such menace, in reference to
the recent violent fighting in Serte City between the population of
the city and gunmen from this extreme organization.
Gentiloni said if negotiations did not reach a quick outcome,
Libya must be placed on the agenda of the international coalition
fighting the state organization, then the goal would not be to work
for the political stability of Libya but to try to contain terrorism
in Libya.
