Tripoli, 17 August 2105(Lana) Italian Foreign Minister Paolo
Gentelone has warned Libya might turn into another 'Somalia' unless
an agreement was reached by Libya parties to the conflict through the
ongoing UN-sponsored talks.
In an interview with La Stampa newspaper published on Monday,
Gentelone said 'either we have an agreement within weeks, or we will
be looking to another Somalia few steps away from our shores, and
then we will be obliged to act in a different way.'
The Minister said time was running out, and especially when ISIS
becoming so dangerous, in reference to the violent battles that raged
in Sirte in the last few days between the residents of the city and
ISIS extremist gunmen.
Gentelone said 'if the talks did not yield any fruits soon, Libya
would have to be placed on the agenda of the international coalition
which is fighting ISIS, and then the goal would not be to stabilize
Libya but rather to contain terrorism there.'
