Libyan Human Rights Committee Calls on UN Human Rights Council to Hold Urgent Meeting On Sirte.

Tripoli, 16 August 2015(Lana) The National Human Rights Committee
on Saturday called on the UN Human Rights Council to hold an
emergency meeting on Sirte and the violations committed by the so
called Da'esh group there.
In a statement, the Committee said it exalted the Council to
debate the latest serious developments in the Libyan city of Sirte
and protection of civilians against annihilation at the hands of the
terrorist organisation.
It demanded that the UN Security Council take urgent actions to
stop the brutal massacres committed by Da'esh against civilians, in
accordance with the UN Resolutions 1970 and 1973 of 2011 on
protection of civilians in Libya, and it held the Council and indeed
the UN High Commission for Human Rights the responsibility for the
massacres of civilians in Libya.
It warned against the aggravating human situation in Sirte and
the consequences of control by Da'esh of the city.
